Musicophilia, Oliver Sacks
Oliver Sacks was a British neurologist renowned for his work as a science popularizer. He has written multiple books that tell stories of his patients and in which he analyzes them in a scientific, medical and humanistic way.
Musicophilia defends the impact that music can have on the brain. Real issues such as epileptic seizures and their relationship with melodies are exposed and analyzed; congenital amusia (inability to recognize musical aspects); or synesthesia.
It is undoubtedly a very interesting read and it manages to bring the reader closer to a field that can become as arid as neuroscience.
